When trying to figure out what to do next with my box of letters, my original thought was to travel to some of the spots in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut via the train. But when I started to do some research some of the spots, I found that they were rather large cities, the locations seemed to be in somewhat dicey areas, and the train didn’t go to all the spots, so there would be some other logistics to figure out. And when I reminisced about prior trips, my least favorite spot was a larger city- Springfield. My favorite spots were the small, off the beaten path, types of places. So, while there were a ton of letters based from Hartford, I decided to forgo any place that had a current popular of over 40,000 people. The other stipulation of this trip was that I wanted to stay as true as possible to the routes listed in the 1930s Connecticut tour book written by the Federal Writer’s Project. And the last stipulation was that if I saw something interesting, to check it out and not just speed on by an interesting spot. So, join me in this tour of what I called “Little Towns and Cities of Connecticut”.
